Exploring the Gilbert Collection- An artist led training and research programme
This report celebrates a creative training and research project led by Resonate Arts with the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Adult Communities Programme supported by the Gilbert Trust For The Arts, working with paid carers from three local Home Instead Care Agencies. The project invited twelve caregivers into the Museum to get to know the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection through a variety of creative activities supported by artist Zoë Gilmour, aiming to increase their confidence in accessing the V&A and its Collections and to support them in continuing to open up the Collection with their clients living with a dementia.
The project also supported the caregivers as a research group, working with them to identify specific barriers to accessing the museum and its collections with people with dementia, and to recommend ways of improving and enhancing the museum environment and on-site offer in response to their expert lived experiences.
